Many churches today have dismissed the model of the Great Commission as given by our Lord on the day of His ascension:
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
The obvious message from our Lord and King is to "GO!" Churches today have changed their approach to, "Invite!" These churches are suffering from lack of sound doctrine because they are now tailored to meet the needs of the lost in their communities. As a result, the flock starves doctrinally, and the proverbial leaven begins to raise the whole lump!

WHAT ABOUT CHURCH PLANTING?
The Apostle Paul preached the gospel in 10 cities during his first "missionary" journey. Only 3 churches were started. According to the Fundamentalist view of our day, Paul would be a failure. Why? Because he did not plant churches in every city. After all, EVERY city needs a church in it, right?
Our commission is to preach the gospel and then baptize those who have repented and believed. If there are those who actually become saved, it is evident that the Lord is establishing a church in that city. We are not to rent or erect a building, place a pastor in it, and then say, "Go get 'em!" Many churches are closing anually and many pastors are discouraged because they feel like failures. If we would smply return to the Master's model for the Great Commission, the onus will be off of our backs and the Lord will do His part... establish churches!
